Looking for a fun way to get an inside look at the history of Atlanta? Then take the Historic Downtown Architecture Tour, a self-guided walking tour created by the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Architects! Architecture enthusiasts can see the sights, learn the history, and hear the unique stories of culturally significant buildings right on their smartphones with this special audio journey.
The buildings included in this tour were built between 1890 and 1930, when Atlanta was emerging as the major city of the Southeast for transportation and commercial activity. Celebrating the architectural heritage and the revitalization of downtown Atlanta, guests can witness skyscrapers developed in the style of the Chicago School of Architecture and learn how the city’s evolution helped revive elements of Gothic, Classical and Colonial styles in American buildings. It’s a fun and educational trek through the history and hotspots of Atlanta, so be sure to take the tour!
